Pachmarhi Best Hill Station of Madhya Pradesh

Pachmarhi, also known as “Queen of Satpura” or Queen of Satpura, is a hill station located in the Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of about 1000 meters, it is the highest point in the Satpura and Vindhya ranges. Bee Fall / Jamuna Falls

Pachmarhi has many beautiful waterfalls and B Falls is one of the most visited places in Pachmarhi. It is famously known as Jamuna Falls and supplies water to the old town of Pachmarhi. To reach this waterfall one has to descend about 400 stairs. However, the trip is worth it as this 150-foot-high waterfall presents itself in the most beautiful landscape, one can even take a bath here to beat the tiredness of descending.

Apsara Vihar

Apsara Vihar is a natural pool with a small and beautiful waterfall. This exciting spot is easily accessible and has a shallow pool at its base, making it an ideal picnic spot, especially for families with small children. It is fondly known as the Fairy Pool and is located near the Pandava Caves in the Pachmarhi hills. At this place, the wives of the British used to take baths here, the people living in this area considered them as Apsaras, hence the name of this place was Apsara Vihar.

Chauragarh Temple

The Chauragarh Temple stands as the most prominent site in the Satpura region, adorned with tridents offered to Lord Shiva by devoted worshippers. It is the third highest peak of Pachmarhi and serves as a pilgrimage site with a Lord Shiva temple at the top. A fair is held here in the months of Shivratri and Sawan.

Christian Church

Built-in 1875 by the British, Christ Church is a Christian religious place in Pachmarhi. Considered to be the most beautiful small church in Madhya Pradesh, it has a hemispherical dome and no pillars for support. The stained glass panes on the back wall create a stunning visual display when sunlight passes through them.

Rajat Pratap / Silver Fall

After a challenging uphill trek from Apsara Vihar, you will encounter Rajat Pratap, also known as Big Fall. This waterfall originates from a height of about 350 feet, looking like a silver streak amidst the lush greenery. It is the highest waterfall in Pachmarhi and the 30th highest waterfall in India.

Bada Mahadev

Mahadev is a revered holy place dedicated to Lord Shiva. It has an impressive cave shelter with a Shivalinga (representing Lord Shiva). In front of the Shivalinga, one can see a pond that constantly fills with drops of water falling from the rocks above. Mahadev also holds renown as the location where Lord Shiva defeated the demon Bhasmasura by placing his hand on the demon’s head.

Jata Shankar

Jata Shankar is a sacred cave located under the rocks, which resembles the hair of Lord Shiva. It serves as a temple of Lord Shiva and is a popular pilgrimage site. The name “Jata Shankar” combines “Jata” (hair) and “Shankar” (another name for Lord Shiva). Jambu Dweep stream originates from this holy place.

Pandava Caves

The famous Pandava Caves consist of five ancient caves carved out of sandstone rock on a low hill. These caves hold great historical and cultural importance and are protected monuments in Pachmarhi. The name Pachmarhi translates to “five caves” or “five huts” in Hindi.

Reachgarh

A magnificent natural amphitheater called Reachgarh lies concealed within an expansive cave-like entrance. Nestled within the contours of Pachmarhi hill, this vast cave derives its name from a local legend.

Dhoopgarh

Dhupgarh is another important attraction in Pachmarhi. It is the highest point of the Satpura range and offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
