Although Patalpani has its own railway station called “Patalpani Railway Station”, it is not accessible due to narrow-gauge connections with other railway stations. The waterfall provides a good picnic spot near Indore and is a weekend getaway for the locals.

Dhuadhar Waterfall, Jabalpur

Also known as the Smoke Cascade, it is a 38-foot-high waterfall with water cascading down and flowing through marble rocks. The waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh never disappoint with their grandeur and the best example of this fact is the Dhuadhar Falls. The sight of the Narmada River falling to form a smoky waterfall with splashes of water and beautiful rainbows is simply amazing. A cable car service operates on the west side of the waterfall and is open to tourists.

The waterfall is located at Bhedaghat, 30 km from Jabalpur. The best time to visit the waterfall is between September and March. The best way to reach here is by taxi or cab, however, if you are a budget traveler, buses run from Jabalpur railway station to Bhedaghat on time.

Raneh Waterfall, Chhatarpur

An unknown among the many waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh, Raneh Falls is located about 22 km from the city of Khajuraho. This beautiful and one-of-a-kind waterfall is located on the Ken River, which adds to its beauty due to its location in a beautiful valley.

Formed out of pure crystalline granite in various shades, this mini Grand Canyon has dozens of small and big waterfalls regularly. Located 44 km from Panna district, the waterfall marks the starting point of the Panna National Park, a lush pristine forest that gives a glimpse of paradise. The waterfall is open for visiting throughout the year, however, the falls are at their best during winter.

Pandav Waterfall, Panna

A major attraction in Panna National Park and Tiger Reserve, Pandav Falls is fed by local springs, making it flow throughout the year. However, this major fall in the list of waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh is at its peak from October to March.

A beautiful waterfall, located 12 km from Panna district, can be reached by cab or private vehicle. Since it falls under the authority of Panna National Park, visitors must follow certain rules when exploring this stunning location. Several resorts within Panna National Park offer memorable stays right in the heart of the wilderness.

A legend gives the waterfall its name, claiming that the Pandavas lived in five caves near the falls during their exile or Agyaatvaas. A picturesque pond at the base of the 100-foot waterfall serves as a natural nursery and breeding ground for Rohu fish.

Bahuti Waterfall, Rewa

Situated 72 km from Rewa city, (Indian Niagara) is the highest among the waterfalls of Madhya Pradesh. When the Odda River descends from the Rewa plateau, a huge waterfall of 466 feet is formed. This waterfall is an excellent example of a nick point forming a cascade with the vertical fall of water. When one sees this waterfall, he is left mesmerized, the beauty of nature here seems supernatural.

Nestled in the jungles, these waterfalls of Madhya Pradesh have long remained out of sight. Due to the geography of the region, there are no major railway stations nearby. The nearest railway station is Satna, which does not have frequent service.

Tincha Waterfall, Indore

Located at a short distance of about 25 km from the city of Indore, Tincha Falls is one of the best waterfalls in and around Indore. Being close to the city, it is the first choice of locals to enjoy the weekend. Located near the Tincha village, the beauty of this waterfall blossoms with the arrival of rain.

A small trek over rocks and boulders from Apsara Vihar near Pachmarhi leads to reaching the 30th tallest waterfall in India.

Bee Fall, Pachamadi

A sunset point waterfall is the most popular among the Pachmarhi waterfalls. Located at a place that dates back to the times of Mahabharata, legend has it that the Pandavas lived in these hills during their exile. Pachmarhi also has a place called Pandava Gufa.

These waterfalls are not only the most cherished bathing pools but also have drinking water. The water drops scatter due to the high height and fall from the rocky hill and when one takes a bath here, the stinging sensation on the body is like a bee sting, hence the name Bee Falls. This place in Madhya Pradesh is known for being a hill station and the Kapildhara Falls add to its beauty.

Pawa Waterfall, Shivpuri

Located in the town of Pohri, 40 km from Shivpuri, they are in addition to the various waterfalls around this town. The waterfalls fall from a height of 100 feet and hold a place in Hindu mythology.

The 500-foot-deep Pawa Kund in Madhya Pradesh is known for scuba diving and snorkeling and such water sports activities. However, the kits required for these activities are not available for rent at the place. A breathtaking statue of Lord Shiva adds spirituality to the waterfalls. The last months of October and March are suitable to get the best views of these waterfalls. The falls originate from the Pawa River and hence are named Pawa.

Kapildhara Waterfall, Amarkantak

The Kapildhara Falls is located in the Amarkantak district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 6 km from Narmada Kund. Falling from a height of about 100 feet, this waterfall originates from the holy Narmada River. The cascade is named after the famous sage Kapil, who was once a resident of this beautiful land and performed many religious rituals. Said to have received divine light, Kapil Muni is said to have written ‘Sankhya Darshan’, an advanced treatise on mathematics.

Kapildhara Falls is located amidst majestic mountains, dense forests, and low hills. Though the waterfall can be visited throughout the year, the best time remains from September to January.

Chchai Waterfall, Rewa

The second highest among the waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh, the Chachai Falls has a height of 400 feet. Located to the north of Rewa city, the waterfall is 40 km away and is situated on the rugged river. These falls are also a good example of Nick Point’s rejuvenation. The waterfall is extremely famous among tourists due to its presence in the Chitrakoot Hills. These hills also have mythological and religious significance.

The waterfall blooms in its full glory during the monsoon season. The waterfall resembles the Keoti and Bahuti waterfalls and is an important part of the valley in which it falls. The journey to this place is not a direct one as one has to first go to Rewa and then hire a private taxi to these falls. Gatha Waterfall, Panna

This is the 5th highest waterfall in the state and can be accessed through roads connecting Panna and neighboring towns. The waterfall falls from a height of 300 feet and is one of the most popular attractions of Khajuraho.

During the monsoon season, the waterfalls attain their full glory. The picturesque and spectacular Vindhyas are a delight to watch. The Yachal range on which these waterfalls are located also houses Pandav Falls, Nand-Kund, and many other waterfalls.

This fall is located on the other side of the highway NH 75 and gives a spectacular view for travelers and locals to enjoy. Being located very close to the national highway, this waterfall is quite popular as a picnic spot among tourists and locals.

Sultangarh Waterfall, Shivpuri

This waterfall is located at a distance of about 50 kilometers from the district headquarters of Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh. This place has a group of many waterfalls that spread their natural beauty among the rocky terrain and lush green trees. The Parvati River feeds these falls, making them particularly enjoyable from August to March. Locals and tourists find this waterfall to be a relaxing picnic spot.

The waterfall makes a melodious sound falling from a height of 82 feet. Just a kilometer away from Kapildhara Falls, Dugdhdhara Falls is not a very big waterfall but is very beautiful. With a height of about 10 feet, the water rushes closer to the rocks creating a milky white appearance.

This waterfall originates from the Narmada Kund and the holy river Narmada falls down, the fall is located towards the western edge of the Amarkantak valley amidst dense forest.

While trekking or driving to this waterfall, one can come across many seasonal streams, surrounding the waterfall after the monsoon season. There are small caves around the falls and are open for exploration as well as a relaxing dip in the cool and soothing waters of the Narmada River.

Shambhudhara Waterfall, Anuppur

Plunging from a height of 115 feet, Shanbhudhara Falls is 17 km from Anuppur railway station. These falls are located in the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, where active private cab and taxi services are available. The Barati Nala, 9 km away from the famous shrine of Amarkantak, provides the water for these falls.

Easily seen amidst the forest of Amarkantak, the waterfall originates from a place called Shambhu Dhara, hence the name of this waterfall. The waterfall requires a small trek to witness the beauty of the stream flowing through an array of rocky mountains and trees.
